The Metal Ceiling Grid Primary Support Channel MF7 is a structural component used in the installation of concealed suspended ceiling systems. Measuring 3600mm in length, this channel acts as the main load-bearing backbone of the metal framing grid, providing a secure foundation for subsequent furring sections. Produced from galvanised steel, it ensures dimensional stability and resistance to rust for commercial and domestic drylining projects.
This primary channel is specifically designed to support MF5 ceiling sections, creating a rigid framework to which plasterboard can be directly fixed. By forming a suspended ceiling, it creates a variable void between the structural soffit and the ceiling face. This space is practical for routing electrical wiring, plumbing, and HVAC ductwork, whilst also allowing for the addition of mineral wool to improve thermal and acoustic insulation.
During installation, the MF7 channel is suspended from the existing soffit using hangers or angle brackets at specified intervals. It connects securely with other metal studding components, ensuring a level finish once the ceiling boards are attached and plastered. Compliant with EN 14195 standards for metal framing components, this channel provides excellent load-carrying capacity and screw retention.
- Measures 3600mm in length to span large ceiling areas with fewer joints.
- Made from galvanised steel for long-term resistance to rust and corrosion.
- Forms the primary support grid to ensure stable plasterboard fixing.
- Complies with EN 14195 standards, ensuring consistent structural integrity.
- Creates structural voids for routing essential plumbing and electrical services.
