Brushes & Rollers

Paint Brushes, Rollers and Decorating Tools

MacBlair stocks brushes and rollers for everything from cutting a clean edge around sockets to covering a full wall or ceiling. The range brings paint brushes for detailed decorating work together with rollers and trays for larger surfaces, making it easier to match the applicator to the paint and the scale of the job.

Brushes are the practical choice for cutting in, coating trim and working paint into corners. Rollers cover open areas more quickly and leave a consistent finish when the sleeve suits the surface. A mini roller handles doors, skirting and awkward spaces, while a wider roller makes short work of interior wall paint.

The range also covers the parts that keep a roller working properly: trays, replacement sleeves, sturdy frames and extension poles for walls and ceilings. Check the frame width and fitting before pairing separate components. A secure fit saves frustration once the tray is full.

Good decorating starts before the tin is opened. Mask edges, cover floors and furniture with the right surface protection, then make sure the wall or woodwork is clean, dry and smooth before applying paint.

Brush and Rollers FAQ's

A useful basic kit includes a medium-width brush for cutting in, a wider roller for walls and ceilings, a tray and a smaller applicator for trim or tight spaces. Match the roller sleeve and brush to the paint and surface.

Use a brush around edges, corners, sockets and other detailed areas. A roller is faster across broad wall sections and can produce a more even finish when it is loaded consistently.

A 9-inch roller suits most walls and ceilings. A 4-inch mini roller is easier to control on doors, furniture, narrow sections and areas behind radiators.

Do not overload the sleeve or press too hard. Keep a wet edge, work in manageable sections and finish each area with light strokes in the same direction.

Follow the paint manufacturer's cleaning instructions. Water-based paint normally washes out with warm water, while solvent-based coatings may require the cleaner stated on the tin.
