WC Waste and Vent Pipework for Above-Ground Drainage

Soil pipe carries discharge from toilets and other sanitary fittings into the drainage system. The run also needs correct ventilation so water seals in nearby traps are not pulled out. MacBlair stocks this pipework within the wider plumbing pipe and fittings range.

Plan the route around the WC outlet, stack position and connection to the drain. Direction changes should use fittings intended for soil systems, with access provided where blockages may need clearing. The toilet pan layout must align with the connector without strain.

Push-fit joints rely on clean sockets, undamaged seals and the specified insertion allowance. Cut pipe square, remove burrs and use only a lubricant approved for the seal material. Clips must hold the run while allowing any movement stated by the manufacturer.

Smaller basin, bath and appliance wastes use different pipe and trap sizes. Select waste traps for sanitary fittings separately, and test all joints before boxing in the stack.

Soil Pipe FAQ's

Many WC soil systems use a nominal 110mm pipe, but the existing stack, pan connector and drainage design must be measured and matched before ordering.

The drainage design needs a way to balance pressure and protect trap seals. This may be an open vent or an approved valve arrangement, depending on current regulations.

Yes, but it needs the correct gradient, support and swept changes of direction. Poor falls and sharp bends increase the risk of deposits and blockages.

A rubber ring in the socket seals around a clean, chamfered pipe end. Use approved lubricant and leave any expansion allowance stated in the instructions.

It can connect through the correct branch or boss fitting. The branch position, trap seal, ventilation and pipe gradient must meet the drainage design.
