Calculate the room heat loss, then compare radiator output at the planned flow temperature. Check wall space, pipe centres and the manufacturer’s watt or BTU figures.
Panel Heating for Rooms of Different Sizes
A cold room is not always short of boiler power. The radiator itself needs enough output for the space and the system temperature. MacBlair stocks single and double convector panels, heated towel radiators, valves, pipe covers and bleed keys. The range covers new layouts as well as replacements within plumbing and heating projects.
Single convector panels take less depth; double convectors offer more output for a given wall width. Check the manufacturer's stated watt or BTU rating at the temperature difference used by the heating system, then measure available wall width, height and pipe centres. The heat output required depends on room heat loss, not floor area alone.
Valves and lockshields control or balance the water flow, while a bleed key releases trapped air when the top of a radiator stays cold. New panels should be fitted to clean, treated system water. central-heating inhibitors and cleaners can be part of that work, alongside compatible copper pipe and fittings.
Radiators FAQ's
A double convector has more heating surface and generally gives more output at a similar width, but projects further from the wall. Compare the actual ratings.
Usually, if its size, connections and output suit the system. An installer should check heat demand, pipework, system water quality and boiler capacity.
Trapped air is a common cause. Bleed it carefully when cool, then check system pressure if the boiler instructions require it. Persistent problems need investigation.
Not always. Check the product listing for included fittings and buy valves that match the pipe size, connection and required control method.
