Padlocks

Security for Gates and Storage

Padlocks provide removable security for gates, sheds, lockers, tool storage and site equipment. The correct choice depends on the value being protected, the hasp or chain dimensions and the level of weather exposure.

Check that the shackle fits through the opening without leaving unnecessary space for tools. A larger body does not automatically suit every job, so compare the material, locking method and corrosion resistance. The wider locks and latches range covers fixed door security.

Pair a padlock with a securely fixed hasp, staple or chain of comparable strength. For a gate needing a built-in sliding fastening, padbolts and surface bolts may be more convenient. Timber gate movement should be corrected at the hinges and fixings before adding security.

Padlocks FAQ's

Check the hasp or chain opening, required shackle clearance and the security level needed for the item.

Security varies by construction and rating. Choose by tested performance rather than locking method alone.

Look for corrosion-resistant materials, protected internal parts and a weather rating appropriate to the exposure.

Several padlocks are supplied to operate with the same key, reducing the number of keys needed.

Reducing exposed shackle space makes it harder to insert cutting or levering tools.
