They are commonly fitted to the inactive leaf of double doors, with the shoot engaging into the head frame or floor.
Concealed Bolts for Double Doors
Flush bolts secure the inactive leaf of a pair of doors without leaving a projecting surface fitting. MacBlair stocks 150mm and 152mm options, including lever-action designs in polished chrome, satin chrome and satin anodised aluminium finishes.
The bolt is recessed into the door edge or face, with the shoot engaging into the frame or floor. Accurate marking and a clean mortice are important because the faceplate should finish level with the timber. Compare other fittings in the door locks and latches range before finalising the arrangement.
Check bolt length, faceplate width, throw and finish against the door specification. Pair the installation with compatible lever handles and door furniture, and correct any dropped door leaves with suitable replacement hinges before setting the keep.
Flush Bolts FAQ's
A recessed lever moves the shoot bolt while keeping the operating hardware close to the door surface.
A recess is normally required so the faceplate sits flush. A router or careful chisel work can create the mortice.
The door design determines the arrangement. Many inactive leaves use a bolt at both top and bottom for controlled closure.
Check that the door is hanging square, then align the shoot and keep before tightening all fixings.
