Concrete Saws

Masonry Cutting Equipment for Slabs and Paving

Concrete saws cut slabs, paving and masonry using a compatible abrasive or diamond disc. Select the saw and disc around material, required depth and access, then plan dust control before work starts.

Match disc diameter, bore, direction and maximum speed exactly. Find related blades and cutting discs, and never use a damaged or incorrectly rated accessory.

Concrete and mortar can release respirable crystalline silica. Use effective water suppression or on-tool extraction, suitable respiratory protection and the controls identified by the task assessment. MacBlair stocks dedicated dust suppression equipment.

Concrete Saw FAQs

With the correct approved disc, it can cut materials such as concrete slabs, paving and masonry. Check both saw and disc specifications for the exact material and depth.

Use the method permitted by the saw and disc. Wet cutting can suppress dust, while dry cutting requires effective extraction and may need shorter passes; never introduce water to equipment not designed for it.

Maximum depth depends on disc diameter, guard design and saw specification. Allow for the required depth and access before selecting equipment.

Cutting concrete, brick and mortar can release respirable crystalline silica, which can cause serious lung disease. HSE guidance requires exposure to be assessed and controlled using suitable methods.

The risk assessment and tool instructions determine PPE, commonly including eye, hearing, foot and respiratory protection. PPE supports, but does not replace, effective dust control at source.
