The Keystone SK-90 is a standard load cavity wall lintel designed to support window and door openings. It spans an overall length of 900mm and is suitable for external walls featuring a cavity width between 90-105mm. The design accommodates a standard 102mm outer leaf and a 100mm inner blockwork leaf, making it an essential structural component in typical masonry builds.
In practice, blockwork is laid tight against the inner face of the lintel. A mortar bed is placed on top of the blockwork before floor units are laid to ensure an even distribution of the load. Propping the lintel is recommended to facilitate the speed of construction while the surrounding masonry cures.
Formed from galvanised steel, the SK-90 satisfies the thermal performance requirements of UK Building Regulations. At 900mm in length, it has a safe working load, Total UDL 3:1, of 12kN and weighs 5.36kg. This specification provides a measured balance of structural support and manual handling practicality on site.
