The Simpson Strong-Tie IRC is a polypropylene plastic clip designed to secure insulation materials within masonry cavity walls. It functions as a retaining disc that slides directly onto standard cavity wall ties, holding the insulation boards or batts firmly in place against the internal structure. This setup prevents the insulation from shifting into the cavity space, ensuring the required air gap remains clear and functional.
Application is simple and requires no specialist tools. The user slots the clip over the installed wall tie and pushes it flat against the surface of the insulation material. By maintaining the insulation in a vertical position, the clip helps preserve the thermal performance of the building envelope.
Produced from lightweight and corrosion-resistant polypropylene, each clip weighs 0.005kg and has a low 2mm profile to minimise interference within the cavity.
