During installation, the barrier is compression-fitted as the blockwork and brickwork progress. For vertical applications, building the blockwork first and completing several courses of brickwork before placing the barrier is recommended. In horizontal installations, the masonry is built up to the required level, and the barrier is inserted once the mortar has set. Lengths must be tightly butt-jointed, with no gaps left, to maintain the required fire and acoustic performance.
The mineral wool core achieves a Euroclass A1 fire classification, and the complete product exceeds the requirements for a 30-minute cavity fire barrier. This specific blue-sleeved variant provides up to 120 minutes of fire integrity and 60 minutes of insulation. The stop sock complies with Approved Document B for fire safety and Approved Document E for sound transmission, offering a water-repellent, maintenance-free solution for modern building requirements.
