The HSA400 is a 400mm herringbone joist strut designed to provide lateral stability to floor joists. It acts as a superior alternative to traditional timber noggin pieces or timber bridging, preventing joist rotation and buckling under load. This metal strut helps distribute point loads across multiple joists, which reduces floor vibration and increases the overall stiffness of the floor structure.
Installation involves fixing the strut to the top and bottom of adjacent joists using 3.75x30mm square twist nails. The design features a central rib for added rigidity and pre-punched holes for quick alignment. Because these struts allow for the passage of pipes and cables between joists, they are often preferred over solid timber blocking in modern Floor Joist applications.
This 400mm version is made from 0.9mm thick galvanised steel, providing essential corrosion resistance for internal structural environments. It meets the requirements of Eurocode 5 and is tested to ensure compliance with UK building regulations regarding floor stiffening. The galvanised coating ensures the component maintains its structural integrity throughout the life of the building.
- Made from 0.9mm galvanised steel for long-term corrosion resistance.
- 400mm length fits standard joist spacings to prevent timber rotation.
- Pre-punched holes allow for quick fixing with 3.75x30mm square twist nails.
- Central longitudinal rib increases the stiffness of the steel section.
- Open design allows services and pipework to pass through the floor void.
