The STANLEY Tylon 5m Tape Measure is a retractable hand tool featuring a 19mm wide steel blade with both metric and imperial graduations. The blade is treated with a specialised Tylon coating that delivers up to 1.5 times more abrasion resistance than standard lacquered alternatives, extending the working life of the tool. A matt finish across the length of the blade reduces glare to ensure readings remain visible under bright site lighting or direct sunlight.
This tool is used for capturing precise dimensions during site surveys, material cutting, carpentry and general layout tasks. It operates via a manual pull-and-retract spring mechanism, controlled by a positive slide lock that holds the blade securely in place during measurement. The end of the tape features a TRU-ZERO hook secured by a 3-rivet connection, which moves slightly to compensate for its own thickness and provide accurate inside and outside measurements.
The measuring tape is housed in a compact bi-material ABS plastic case with a rubber overmould, providing impact resistance and a secure grip in wet or dusty conditions. An integral metal belt clip allows for secure attachment to trousers or tool belts for immediate access. As a highly practical addition to any tape measures collection, this Class II accurate tool provides a reliable +/-0.5mm error tolerance at 1m to ensure precision across various dimensional applications.
