The Simpson Strong-Tie CBR20175 Masonry Reinforcement Mesh is a coiled galvanised steel mesh designed to provide added strength and stability to masonry walls. It assists in resisting tensile stresses in areas where structural settlement occurs, helping to maintain the integrity of the brickwork or blockwork over time.
This reinforcement mesh is positioned directly within the masonry bed joints and is incorporated into the mortar course. During application, it must provide a minimum of 25mm cover to the external faces of the wall. When joining two lengths together, an overlap of at least 75mm is required. For most standard reinforcement applications, the mesh is laid every third brickwork course.
Supplied in a 20m coil for ease of handling on site, the 175mm wide mesh can be cut to the required length. All metal components used in the same application should be of the same material type to prevent galvanic corrosion. It is recommended to wear gloves during installation to protect against sharp metal edges.
