The PolyPlumb 15mm x 50m barrier pipe is a flexible polybutylene tube used for hot and cold water supply and central heating applications. It incorporates an internal ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) oxygen barrier layer. This barrier prevents oxygen from entering the water system, reducing the risk of corrosion in metallic heating components such as radiators and boilers.
This 50m coil allows for long, continuous runs of pipework, reducing the number of joints required compared to rigid pipe sections. It is installed by uncoiling to the required length, cutting, and securing with standard push-fit fittings and pipe clips. A pipe stiffener must be inserted into the cut end before connection to maintain a secure and watertight joint. The polybutylene material provides flexibility, allowing the pipe to bend around corners and obstacles in confined spaces.
Compliant with BS 7291 Class S and WRAS approved, the pipe is suitable for most domestic and commercial water distribution systems. It is part of our wider Plastic Pipe category. The pipe safely handles working pressures up to 12 bar at 20°C and 6 bar at 90°C. It is not suitable for systems carrying high concentrations of chlorine or gas.
