You can install Composite Prime decking over a traditional treated timber subframe, a plastic composite subframe, or an aluminum frame. However, because composite boards are heavier and more flexible than wood, joist spacing is critical. You will typically need to build your subframe with joists spaced at 300mm to 400mm centers, depending on the specific board you choose.
Yes, upgrading to composite fencing is often much easier than people expect. HD Fence panels are designed with a thickness that allows them to slot directly into standard, pre-existing concrete H-posts. This means you can completely transform the look of your garden boundaries without the heavy labor of digging up and replacing old posts.
Unlike traditional timber which primarily expands with moisture, composite materials expand and contract slightly with changes in temperature. Leaving a small expansion gap (typically around 5mm to 6mm) between the sides and ends of each board allows for this natural movement and prevents the boards from buckling. Using the recommended hidden fastener clips automatically helps you achieve the perfect spacing.
Absolutely. Because Composite Prime is manufactured with a blend of plastics and wood flour, it is highly resistant to moisture penetration. Unlike traditional wood, it will not absorb standing water, swell, or rot, making it an ideal, long-lasting surface for surrounding hot tubs, garden ponds, or outdoor showers.
