Bostik Fire Cement is a ready-mixed, asbestos-free paste designed for applications requiring high heat resistance. Composed of inorganic fillers and water-based thermosetting resins, the compound sets to form a hard, cement-like finish when exposed to heat. It is suitable for domestic use on non-metallic and non-plastic surfaces, providing a solid seal that withstands extreme temperatures.
This 1kg tub is intended for repairing and sealing joints in fire backs, internal flue pipes, solid fuel heaters, and boilers. Once applied to the rebate using a trowel or knife, the paste produces smoke-tight joints that prevent the escape of fumes. The compound bonds strongly to refractory brickwork, concrete, and clayware, offering a practical solution for maintaining stoves and open fireplaces on a smaller scale.
To apply, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of loose material. The paste sets upon exposure to air and requires gradual heating to cure properly. Users must initially heat the application to 100°C for 4h before raising it to the maximum operating temperature to achieve full strength. It is suitable for indoor applications only and should not be used in exterior areas exposed to wet conditions.
- Resists temperatures up to 1400°C for use in extreme heat applications.
- Supplied as a ready-mixed paste to allow direct application from the 1kg tub.
- Sets to a rigid, cement-like finish that produces smoke-tight joints.
- Bonds directly to porous materials including refractory brickwork and clayware.
- Made from an asbestos-free blend of inorganic fillers and thermosetting resins.
