SSQ Amazonia is a mudstone roofing slate, mined exclusively for SSQ in south-east Brazil.

Mudstone is a sedimentary rock which has similar characteristics to slate (which is a metamorphic rock) and is frequently used as a roofing slate. Geologically it is approximately 100 million years younger than typical slate rock resulting in the material being brittle.

Appearance

• SSQ Amazonia graphite is a mid-grey roofing slate with a tinge of dark green.
• Testing In addition to passing SSQ’s own, rigorous quality-control tests, SSQ Amazonia roofing slate has been tested in accordance with EN 12326, carries the CE marking and is classified as ‘W1-S1-T1’.
